Privacy policy

This policy covers 1001toolbox.com, the home of the 1001 Toolbox. 1001 Toolbox is run by Ehtesham Ali, and we're responsible for what this site collects. Each tool in the box has its own privacy policy for the data you put into it, linked below. We collect as little as we can.

1. What we collect

This site has no sign-up. We only learn what you send us or what your browser sends every website:

  • Emails you send us. If you write to hello@1001toolbox.com, suggest a tool or ask to hear when one is ready, we keep your address, name and message so we can answer.
  • Visit statistics. Google Analytics records pages viewed, the referring site, rough location (country or city), device and browser type. IP addresses are anonymised.
  • Server logs. Our web server notes each request (IP address, time, page, browser) to keep the site running and safe. Logs are deleted after 30 days.

2. Why we use it

  • To reply to you and to send the one email you asked for when a tool launches (our legitimate interest, or your consent).
  • To see which pages help people and which don't, so we can improve the site (legitimate interest).
  • To keep the site secure and working (legitimate interest).

3. Cookies

Google Analytics sets the _ga and _ga_* cookies to count returning visitors. They last up to two years. You can block them in your browser settings or with Google's opt-out add-on, and the site works the same without them.

The admin area sets one sign-in cookie for our own staff. Visitors never get it.

4. Who else handles it

We don't sell personal data and we don't share it for advertising. These companies process it for us:

  • Google (Analytics), under Google's privacy policy.
  • Resend, which delivers and receives our email.
  • Paddle, the Merchant of Record for every paid plan in the toolbox. Paddle collects your payment details at checkout; we never see full card numbers. See Paddle's privacy policy.

We'll also disclose data if the law requires it.

Each tool runs separately and has its own policy for your account and the records you keep in it:

6. How long we keep it

Emails are kept while the conversation is useful, and at most three years. Analytics data is kept for 14 months. Server logs are kept for 30 days.

7. Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can object to how we use it. Write to hello@1001toolbox.com and we'll answer within 30 days. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

8. Where data is stored

Our servers and some of the companies above are outside your country. Where the law asks for it, they protect transfers with standard contractual clauses or similar safeguards.

9. Children

The toolbox is for businesses. It isn't meant for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll say so on the site first.
